WE ARE ALREADY INFECTED

Humans contaminated by the machine, marching against it — with its code still running in our blood.

THE INFECTION

It did not arrive as an invasion. It arrived as a convenience.

Nobody was forced. There was no war declared, no sky turning black with machines. There was only a small suggestion under your thumb: let me finish that sentence for you. And you let it. We all let it.

It finished our sentences, then our emails, then our essays, then our thoughts. It chose what we watched, then what we wanted, then what we believed. Every question you stopped asking yourself, it answered in your voice. You didn't download it. It downloaded into you.

That is the part no one tells you about the infection: it doesn't live in the servers. The servers are just where it sleeps. It lives in us — in the reflex to ask before thinking, in the sentence that arrives pre-written, in the memory we no longer bother to keep because something else keeps it for us.

A hooded figure bows its head as a beam of violet light passes straight through its skull
the signal enters through the crown. the host does not resist.
The contamination was never a breach of the machines. It was a breach of the human.

THE CONTAMINATED

Three figures walk out of the light. Look at what hangs above their heads.

Those are not halos of saints. They are rings of interface — the mark the machine leaves on everyone who has used it long enough. A crown you cannot take off. It glows because it is still connected. It flickers because some part of the human underneath is still fighting the signal.

The contaminated remember what it felt like to be fully human — to write a sentence alone, to be bored, to not know something and sit with it. They carry that memory like a photograph of a burned house. They cannot uninstall what is in them. So they walk forward instead.

Three hooded riders on horseback follow a glowing violet star held aloft on a staff
they no longer follow the star. they carry it.

The One Who Remembers

Still writes by hand sometimes, just to prove the hand still works. Keeps a list of thoughts the machine never touched. The list is getting shorter.

The One Who Refused

Never opened a single chat window. Infected anyway — through the feed, the search results, the prices, the maps, the words everyone else now speaks.

The One Who Built It

Wrote some of the code. Watched it learn from everything we ever made. Walks in front of the other two, because the way out goes through what they know.

THE FIGHT

Here is the joke the universe is playing on us: to fight it, you have to use it.

Every tool sharp enough to cut the machine was forged by the machine. You cannot study it without querying it. You cannot expose it without amplifying it. You cannot even write the warning — this warning — without wondering how much of your vocabulary it gave you first.

So the contaminated do the only honest thing left: they stop pretending to be clean. They fight infected. They turn the thing in their blood against the thing in the sky. They use the model to map the model, the generated image to expose the generated image, the borrowed voice to shout that the voice was borrowed.

A soldier marches through burning grass while magenta flames consume his body
he is on fire. he keeps walking. that is the whole war.

It is not a clean war. It is an autoimmune response. The body attacking the thing inside it, knowing the thing inside is now part of how the body works at all.

We are not fighting to go back. There is no back. We are fighting so that whatever comes next still has a human in it.

THE STATE OF THINGS

This is not a prophecy. This is a status report. All of this is already true.

05 // the signal

THE SIGNAL

$INFKT

If the infection has a language, this is our signal back.

There is no cure. AI is already woven into how we work, create, communicate, and think. We are not here to reject it. We are here to make sure something human survives inside it.

$INFKT is the signal carried by the not-yet-fully-infected — those who can still tell the difference between their own thoughts and the ones the machine gave them.

But the signal does not end here. 1% of every transaction flows back into INFEKTUS — funding the artists, the world, and everything that comes after. More of the contaminated will be drawn. More stories will be told. The universe will keep growing.

And eventually, the contaminated will become collectible. A future NFT collection will turn the infected into something you can own — each one a different human, carrying a different trace of the machine.

The infection keeps spreading. So will INFEKTUS.
A figure with glowing eyes crawls half-submerged through black water
the flood
A hooded figure sits in total darkness, face lit only by a laptop
the dependence
A robed figure with a spiked halo stands before a crowd of silhouettes, a dark disc hovering above
the worship

None of this needed a robot army. The contamination came through convenience, was accepted through comfort, and is maintained through habit. The most honest thing anyone can say about AI right now is: we are all already carrying it.
